Topic for Found Art Tuesday Sept 18, 2007: COLLECT

COLLECT is the topic for next week's found art Tuesday.

I am a collector of the weirdest things. I like to collect coins and bills from different countries, a habit inherited from my grandfather. I also like to collect printed cards like tarot although I do not read them or even know what they mean. I even like the idea that because I don't know the true meaning I can give them whatever meaning I want. This makes me want to make a painting around them giving them my own meaning, interpreting them to something that has happened to me or the future I would like to have. I also collect little crosses and buttons and keys and other trinkets like that because I think they can be used to make art, although I think the real reason is that in my past life I used to be a magpie, (you know, those birds that steal anything shiny to put in their nests). And by the way, you should see what my "nest" (AKA Painting Studio) looks like... full of little things inside boxes waiting to be used in art.

So I collect things and now I'll be making some art about it. will you join me?
