Happy Halloween & Updates

magic%20seeds%201.jpg

Happy Halloween! I have a few Found Art Tuesday Updates! The first one is this, the magic seeds tin box, I left it on the steps to the Mexican Pavilion in Epcot Center, in Orlando.

I was all excited to visit this Pavilion with my daughter, who is 5, and to show her some of her heritage, at least the Americanized version of it, you know, the sombreros and the mariachi, but it was a complete disaster, because inside they have this volcano painted in the wall, and they thought it would be cool to have some smoke coming out of it, you know, to make it more real, but to a 5 year old, it was THE REAL THING! and she could not believe I would stand there and not run the other way, because you know, that volcano was about to explode, didn't I see the smoke coming out of it?! so the mariachi, the piƱatas, the food, it is all irrelevant when there is certain death awaiting you, so we had to leave, good thing there were no more volcanoes any where else in Walt Disney World, at least we didn't see any.

The next found art I left was for the topic of "Line"

list%201

I made a list of 10 things you can do while waiting in line, because it can sometimes be forever if you are in Walt D. W. A few of the ideas are: read a good book (and a few suggestions), pray, drink lots of water and bring an extra bottle to share with the people behind you (a new one works best!), take out your sketch book and doodle, do lounges instead of walking...

I left this one in the safari ride at Animal Kingdom, I was hoping some other tourist would pick it up, but I think that a girl who works there found it...

And the last one I left was this one:

fluffy%20monster.jpg

One fluffy and not so scary kitten/monster. I left this one at the Magic Kingdom park. it's made in a page of a children's board book prepared with gesso. It is really low-tech. Just a black marker. I made this one on the car while driving to Orlando.  It was a very interesting drive down, we got to see a few interesting towns like Savannah, Georgia, (GORGEOUS LITTLE TOWN) and Hilton Head, a beach resort, where we spend one night and Benjamin and Isabel got to see the sea! we saw little crabs and a star fish, it was a wonderful day. On the way there we had so many bathroom breaks, you can imagine, with my bladder being the size or an acorn and two small children, and we stopped in one on Jacksonville, where I saw that picture I posted earlier, about "All we need is love" I thought it was such a wonderful thing to write in a bathroom wall, because you always read all these nasty things, usually things about people you don't know, numbers and messages telling you who will give you a good time, and usually all negative things, but this message! it was written very low in the wall, I imagine that it was made either while sitting down, or written by a girl, and it really made my day. Because I always, always! read things on bathroom walls, I usually take my time (If I have it to spare) and read them all, I think it's so interesting, all these people, all these different penmanship, different places they are going, but in that moment in time, we are all sharing the exact same spot, a bathroom stall in a gas station on the side of the road. And this is when I remember to put some paper on the toilet seat because I don't really want them sharing anything else.

ah, I can just imagine her reaction, poor bairn. I remember when my daughter was her age and we went to see a dinosaur exhibit in Dallas. Well at the entrance the dinasure moved its neck and all we could see was a pink coat fleeing the building. It took us forever to convince her it was just mechanical.

Funny, I never dreamed in a million years when I took my kids to disney that one day my daughter would be working there :)
