ring display in a cigar box

I've been looking everywhere for an interesting way to display rings, and although I've found some cool things out there I always think to myself, could I do it instead?

I wanted to incorporate one of the cigar boxes that I already have. I also found some samples of upholstery fabric that we got when we had our living room sofa made.

I then needed to find the right glue. I recently got a tub of the E6000 glue that everyone is talking about, and started using it but it was taking forever to set. So I used a glue gun instead. Glue guns are underestimated, at least by me. I find them to be sometimes a little messy but they set really quickly. The only thing I don't like about this glue is that metal pieces can snap off easily. But if you're looking to glue fabric to paper, as in this case, it works wonderful.

So I started by cutting the fabric the same lenght as the box and folding the upholstery fabric as an accordion. Once the piece was folded I ran a thread through the ends just to keep the fabric folded until I glued it to the box. Once I had enough fabric to fill the box I placed some tissue paper on the bottom of the box just to keep the fabric from sagging in the middle and glued it on the ends to the box.

The rings you see here are my collection of rings I've made or bought, but I'm bringing this display to the gallery.

Hi Rosa, I recently stumbled upon your blog and I am just wowed by your creative power. i have decided to try doing Found Art Tuesday. it's tuesday today, so today's piece may not be the masterpiece i'd hoped, but something is better than nothing.
out of curiosity, do you still give word prompts beforhand as a theme? (i read in the archives and you were doing so earlier...)
