New work for Young Blood Gallery

It's been work, work, work around here. I'm working on a lot, and I mean, A LOT of commissions. I don't know why but I always say yes to everything, and really.... would you say no to work that is also super fun? come on! :)

This is a small piece that I will be sending to Young Blood Gallery in Atlanta, GA. ASAP, as in, they needed it last week.  I had to pick one of the four seasons and for some reason "spring" came to mind immediately. All the artists will have to pick one season and I wish I could go to the opening of this show that I know is going to be awesome.

I had the idea of the butterflies on the shadow box since the beginning, and then the drawing followed. The shadow box is behind glass, so the UPS transportation worries me, let's just all gather together and send good thoughts, k?

All the green is painted wax paper with acrylic paint. I posted some pictures of the paper before cutting it here. I looooved the texture!

The butterflies are also cut out of the wax paper and actually pinned to the painting, there's also some clouds in the background, but I don't know how visible they are.

I played with all the layers and different depths of the piece. A little like working on 3D but no really.

Ok, so let's get back to work!

I love this piece! So airy and pretty and joyful! And I love the painted wax paper too. It all makes me smile.

I agree, it's really lovely. I love that "free" and "happy" feeling it gives.

Is that box familiar or is it just me?
I loved the piece over at flickr and thought "I hope she adds that to etsy".
