Found Art Tuesday, April 29 2008: JOY

The other day I took a look at the disaster that is my front yard. There are not any flowers and it's kind of plain, so I bought this seed mat, which is basically, paper with seeds on it, so you place it on the ground, cover it with more soil, water it, and TA-DAA! flowers start to grow.

Why is this different that just sprinkling seeds around? I don't really know, but, did you hear what I said? it is PAPER! with SEEDS how cool is that?!

And you can also write and paint on the paper, although I don't think it's the original intention for this product. Today, it will be turned into found art.

I drew a bird, the same one I drew last weekend, and since it took me a while to actually make it look like a bird, I had the great idea of tracing it into the seeds paper, then I used a black felt tip pen and colored it with watercolors. The caption reads, "A blue bird is JOY on wings" I've had this thing with blue birds lately. We also have a few of those red ones with the funny hair. I don't remember the name just now.

I made a video of the making of this one. In a few places the image is a little shaky, could be my new table, I have to work that out for the next video.

The music is again by Summer Pierre.

I will be leaving this today somewhere out there, lots of things to do today! see ya later, enjoy your Tuesday!

Wow, what an *absolutely fantastic* idea!

Your bird looked great by the way (both of them). I just love your idea of painting your found art piece on seeded paper! That's brilliant!
