art the art fair!
Monday, April 21, 2008 at 05:14PM So there was this Art festival at Ballanyne, NC last weekend. And it was S L O W to say the least. And I mean VERY slow. I think that the main thing was the weather. There was 60% chance of rain, and oh yes, did it ever. The rain decided to come and go in several occasions but we managed to keep everything {almost} dry. I did, however, HAD A GREAT TIME. There were tons, and I mean, TONS of volunteers from the local YMCA, and they were the nicest of people, they gave us free -and healthy- snacks, helped with the set-up and the people who were brave enough to go visit us were the nicest. All the grouchy ones stayed home. Woo-hoo!! It was a wonderful, although somewhat tiring, weekend.
I was very blessed to have Ruben there, I have the best husband ever. He was my cheerleader all the way, greeting people and making jokes. {thank you Ruben!} somebody even asked me if I rented him out for parties and events, I'm still thinking about it, will let you know ;)
I did sell even though the weather did not cooperate. Mostly prints. and a few of the epoxy resin boxes. And also, I think the prices were SO VERY AFFORDABLE. A few people even pointed it out! TO ME! they actually told me : HEY, your prices are very low! To what I answered, "Ok, so how much more you wanna pay?" To what they turned around and left, mumbling something about not bringing their checkbook.
I was also very thrilled to meet a fellow artist, Renee in person. I found out about her through the art fair website, and I was very happy to see her work in person, her things are so organic and lovely. I really liked her approach to art.
And oh, did I mention THIS:
+ahem+ Judges Choice for best 2D art!! HOW COOL IS THAT!!! When I heard my name I did that little dance where you point your fingers up and dance around. It was not pretty but very happy and fulfilling. thank you.
There are more pictures from the festival in my flickr account. Go take a look!
So yes... I think I am labeling this as a success! woo-hoo!

I agree with Kathy - I bet if the weather was better you would have sold out.
That was so nice of your husband to support you all day. He must be very proud of you.
It was great to meet you, I hope we stay in touch.
