Mermaids, Courage and Faith

I did leave a piece of found art this week! woo-hoo! a small one, but with a nice message, I thought. It's about faith, and made with polymer clay, an eye and the word faith stamped on it, there's also a ring there that says "love" because of course, love & faith need to be together. it was left on a bulletin board at the Panera Bread, I have no idea if people actually look at bulletin boards anymore, I hope someone takes it!
I also wanted to show you this new painting of a mermaid I finished last week:
So first of all, her voluptuousness really bothers me now that I took the pictures, but there is actually NOTHING I can do about it because this painting has been delivered already! *gasp!* that is right, there is a naked mermaid in all her glory out there. AND what's worse, it has been donated to a fundraiser benefit for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation of Charlotte, North Carolina. The benefit is this Saturday in a gallery in the cultural district of Charlotte (NoDa) and there will be a silent auction and a Chinese raffle (whatever that means) and I was very happy to donate a painting for this event, but this mermaid.... ay chihuahua, I don't don't how it will sit with the audience. My dear husband was a little worried when he saw her, and I was all.. no, don't worry, it's art, they will appreciate her, and all that... but then I saw the pictures! (after delivering the art) it looks like I made a mermaid with implants! maybe a plastic surgeon will want to bid on her? and the funny thing is that I wanted to make a painting that talked about courage, and faith and to have lots of movement and emotion, but now I think that those two things are a little too distracting and sure are not going anywhere, the are coragiously defying gravity.
but anyway, other than that, I loved this painting, mermaids have been calling out to me again, and I enjoy making them, I like the color combinations on this one. The written text on the upper right corner reads:
"Look: difficulties, large and small, can be seen at once... But if there is love, one pays no heed to those obstacles: one goes ahead with daring, with conviction, with courage"
