art My new challenge

Since Maria is done I had a crazy idea to start another portrait. I liked to take pictures of Maria as it progressed because it gave me a chance to stop and take a look at it too while taking the picture, because what I usually do is just paint-paint-paint and not really stop and take it in. So I plan to do the same with this one and share the progress here.
It's just in the sketch phase, let's see if it's ready for July 1st (the opening of the show at Cafe Mia) This picture is just a detail of the sketch which doesn't cover the whole thing.
This one is going to be different because the support is not canvas but hardwood that has been primed and gessoed endlessly. I am so looking forward to paint on wood, you can do lots of things to this material that may be too harsh for the delicate canvas that can pretty much start to sag just by looking at it too long. (I'm thinking nail-guns, drilling, heavy collaging, etc. woo-hoo!!)
The size is 24 x 24 inches and cradled with 2" thick. It's a beauty!
I'll keep you posted!
PS. 20 points if you can guess who's the woman in the picture....
