1. I drew a face, with an actual expression.

2. I liked the textures and details of the chair and the background. This chair reminds me of the rocking chair my grandparents have in their house in Mexico.

3. I also liked the composition and how the hand and the bottles are balancing the face.

4. Loooooved the mouth

Things I did not like:

1. She doesn't look that much like the person I was trying to paint.

2. It looks like she's got a droopy eye. In fact, the eyes don't really align very well to each other.

3. Didn't like the hair that much. Feels like an old lady kind of hairstyle.

4. What the Hell is going on with her square jaw? And how did that happen?!

Please tell me what you think of Maria! She has kicked my inner critic butt so hard this week, he had to leave on vacation for a few days  (he doesn't take abuse too well you see).

she's beautiful, rosa!! i like the eyes because they give her personality. and i love the hair, it may be old fashioned looking, but i still like it...reminds me of Casablanca. most of all, i love all the texture in your art. great work!

I love the texture and overall feel of the entire work. It is very reminescent of an era gone by. She reminds me of hispanic folk art, early frida. I adore her and there is nothing your inner critic can say to me to change my mind. In fact, thethings that you did not like are what make the piece so charming!

I enjoyed your painting of Maria -- sure the things you say about it are true. But the portrait still works in itself -- an interesting picture of a strong woman. I think you should just say, "Hey! I meant to do that". It's enjoyable as it is.
