WATER

You may think you know about water. I think I knew all about water because you see, I was born under the sign of the water, I am an Aquarius. And even though I don't believe to the letter all they say about Aquarius, I know one thing... I am a little unpredictable.. like water. It can change, it can be soft or hard as a rock, it can fall from the sky, it can be hard to find. But it is always water. In large amounts in can be scary too, like a grown river, like a lake, like an ocean. These days I feel like a boat in the water. Everything around changing all the time and yet it looks kinda the same. and I'm afloat, going North, coming back.
But I do not know everything about water. I can't tell how deep it is, I can't see the bottom of the ocean, I just have to trust that it's there. Water surrounding me, like a shelter holding my little boat traveling to shore. The journey is a happy one even if sometimes I misplace my compass.
I made this with layer of blue paper that I cut to resemble waves. After I saw that the desired effect was not achieved, I then started painting little waves of white and blue add depth. The star is a wood cut star painted white and I drew a little compass that reads, "Ir al Norte" (traveling North) the boat is made with watercolor paper and pencil. I'm leaving this today at a birthday party my daughter is invited to!

OK so where is the quote from? I swear it is from a song by Sting or the Police? I love the work. The feel or tone is awesome. The blues are beautiful.

I did not know Aquarius was a sign of air. This shows how little I know of the zodiacs and all of that. I just always assumed aquarius was water... duh me...
And thanks Lena for reading my little explanations, I have noticed that if I try to explain it rationally I'll over think the process and it becomes all too complicated. So sometimes I just write what I was thinking when I was making the art. But this also means I leave out important info I should've included too... like the materials used, etc... oh well..
cool, moving, beautiful. I like the color (deep blue) and the boat is perfect.
