Found Art Feb 20 07: INSPIRATION

    inspiration 1.jpg

Inspiration for me is truly everywhere. In a color swatch, in the texture of a curtain, in a quote, in a song... but when I really conjure all my muses for the job is when I have time to sit down with a cup of coffee and a book (sometimes I read my sketchbook, a pretty interesting read, I must say!) and just let it all come to me instead of me trying to force anything. These small moments are the most valuable in terms of creativity and inspiration for me. I wish I had lots of them but I'm pretty busy with a two small kids and a house to run! inspiration 2.jpgSo when I do get the time to do it, I immerse in the moment and write everything I can think of, often I would read my notes later and find little surprises I don't even remember writing down.

So today I am passing along my muse to someone else as found art. I used an image I found in a magazine and glued it to a piece of cardboard. I then placed a starbucks gift card with $5 dlls, (can you tell it's raised from the paper a little bit?, about half an inch) made some doodles about having some time with yourself, some coffee and a book.

What is it about coffee? maybe it's the warmth of the cup in your hands, maybe it's using it to make a pause between chapters so you can think about what you just read.

I imagine the people in the little houses slowing down with twilight, a book and a little of inspiration too.

I will leave this (where else?) inspiration 4.jpgin a local starbucks, that commercial yet magical purveyor of dreams and inspiration in a recycled cardboard cup.

You are so right...just what is it about coffee! It is pure magic! A legal drug, an incredible high? Oh well, all I know is it is wonderful! I love the work. Very clever. The homes or houses are so colorful!

Coffee really gets my brain going. I can actually feel it with the first sip (ok gulp). Maybe it is all in my head, but then again that is where I need it. It is certainly so true that inspiration is everywhere, and I think found art is all about reminding people of that fact. Wonderful piece.

Just brilliant. I love that you took a cultural icon (the Starbucks gift card) issued by a company that values sameness over individuality to create a piece that honors the genesis of individuality: inspiration.

I had a dream to begin my own organization, however I didn't have enough amount of money to do this. Thank heaven my close fellow told to use the home loans. So I used the credit loan and realized my old dream.
