Found Art Feb 20 07: INSPIRATION

Inspiration for me is truly everywhere. In a color swatch, in the texture of a curtain, in a quote, in a song... but when I really conjure all my muses for the job is when I have time to sit down with a cup of coffee and a book (sometimes I read my sketchbook, a pretty interesting read, I must say!) and just let it all come to me instead of me trying to force anything. These small moments are the most valuable in terms of creativity and inspiration for me. I wish I had lots of them but I'm pretty busy with a two small kids and a house to run!
So when I do get the time to do it, I immerse in the moment and write everything I can think of, often I would read my notes later and find little surprises I don't even remember writing down.
So today I am passing along my muse to someone else as found art. I used an image I found in a magazine and glued it to a piece of cardboard. I then placed a starbucks gift card with $5 dlls, (can you tell it's raised from the paper a little bit?, about half an inch) made some doodles about having some time with yourself, some coffee and a book.
What is it about coffee? maybe it's the warmth of the cup in your hands, maybe it's using it to make a pause between chapters so you can think about what you just read.

I imagine the people in the little houses slowing down with twilight, a book and a little of inspiration too.
I will leave this (where else?)
in a local starbucks, that commercial yet magical purveyor of dreams and inspiration in a recycled cardboard cup.
