My trip to Soriana

Soriana is one of the biggest supermarkets chains here in Monterrey. I had forgotten how good it is to go there. Here's why...

DSC01861.JPGTunas, not the fish, I think they're called prickly pears. The fruit of the Nopal cactus, they're really sweet and juicy.

DSC01854.JPGPoblano peppers... there were two aisles full of chilli peppers. We use them in almost everything we eat! I used to think it was no big deal to eat chilli peppers and then I learned Mexico is the only country in Latin America where we eat chillies.

This bread is called "ears" (orejas)DSC01868.JPG

Here's some we took home (it's all gone by now)

All of that is making me very very hungry! I'd be happy to even be able to find cherizo in the supermarkets here... that's one of the bad things about living in a city without a big Hispanic population. :o(
