my mom's art
Friday, December 22, 2006 at 05:04PM My mom is very creative and she has made a living out of making things and selling them. When I was in high school she had a flower shop in Mexico City where I would spend my afternoons wrapping handmade flowers and arranging flowers in vases. She taught me how to sew, something I didn't learn too well, how to do cross-stitch and how to paint. She aslo taught me good taste and good color coordination... She gave me the foundation and the skills to develop art later in my life, she has always had a creative train of thought and I always picture her working with her hands in some way. Until a few years ago she used to have a spot in a local TV show where she would make something and give tips on creativity everyday! Right now she is teaching art to little kids, ages 3 to 6 and she loves it! She is also painting more than she used to before, and has started painting abstracts for the first time. Something that has always inspired me about her is how much she enjoys doing it. These are just a few of her paintings she has in her house.. And by the way, she is completely a self taught artist, she graduated from high school but never took one painting class! wow!
